Simple Scoring vs Decision Tree
RosterForge offers two scoring modes. Both are available to every customer at no difference in price. They serve different purposes.
Decision Tree (1-10, calibrated). The evaluator answers yes-or-no questions. The system produces a score. Two evaluators watching the same player will produce the same score. Best for organizations that want the most reliable data for drafting and roster building.
Simple Scoring (1-5, evaluator-rated). The evaluator taps a number from 1 to 5 based on their judgment. Faster to learn, no training needed, works on day one. Best for organizations that are new to structured evaluation or need a low-barrier starting point.
What you get with both modes. Inter-evaluator normalization, weighted scoring by category, Draft Board, Team Builder, Ranker, and player history tracking. Both modes feed the same downstream pipeline.
What the decision tree adds. Cross-division normalization and a universal scoring scale. Because the scores are calibrated through the tree, you can meaningfully compare a player evaluated in Division A against a player evaluated in Division B. Simple scoring cannot do this because the subjective scale varies between evaluator groups.
The upgrade path. Start with simple scoring. See how the data looks. Then switch to the decision tree for your next eval cycle. The difference in data quality will be immediately apparent and it will sell itself.
