The RosterForge Evaluation Philosophy

RosterForge is an opinionated system. It has a strong point of view about how player evaluations should be run. This is intentional.

The product guides the process. RosterForge does not just hand you tools and hope you know what to do. It tells you when your session is too large. It tells you when pinnies are missing. It tells you when you are not ready to start. These guardrails exist because we have seen what happens when they are not there.

Preparation is the product. The best evaluation technology in the world cannot overcome a lack of preparation. If registration is still open at start time, if pinnies are being handed out at the door, if evaluators have not been briefed, the evaluation will struggle regardless of the app. RosterForge is designed to make the right preparation obvious and the wrong shortcuts visible.

Calibrated data over subjective opinions. The decision tree exists because gut-feel ratings produce inconsistent data. Two evaluators should produce the same score for the same performance. The tree makes that possible. Simple scoring exists as an accessible starting point, but the decision tree is where the real value lives.

Fair drafting. The draft should reflect player ability, not politics. Auto-picks land in the round the player earned. Coach's children are not penalized or advantaged. Snake order ensures balanced teams. The data drives the decisions.

The tool protects itself. RosterForge will not let itself be blamed for problems it did not create. The pre-flight checklist, the session gate, the evaluator lock, the pinnie warnings. These features exist to ensure that when something goes wrong, it is clear whether the issue was the tool or the preparation.
